Mezzo-Soprano Alexandra Asher lives and performs regularly in Toronto with various choral ensembles including Schola Cantorum, the Ottawa Bach Choir, Toronto Festival Singers and the York University Chamber Choir. Ms. Asher joined the choir at Metropolitan United Church in the fall of 2016 as an Alto lead. She recently earned an Advanced Certificate in Performance at the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Monica Whicher, and is currently finishing her master’s degree in the field of musicology at York University.

In 2014, Ms. Asher was the District Winner of the NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Artist Award. She has been a featured soloist with the King Edward Choir, Ottawa Bach Choir, The Nathaniel Dett Chorale, Cantabile Chamber Singers, the Greater Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra, Sable 8, and the Tafelmusik Summer Baroque Institute. Alexandra has recently sung in the choruses of Opera Atelier and Tryptych Opera, and performed the roles of ‘Madame Armfeldt’ in A Little Night Music, Halifax Summer Opera Festival; ‘Phobia’ in Mushroom Pizza, and ‘The Second Witch’ in Dido and Aenaes, with Yorkshire Opera Workshop in Saltburn, UK.
